Why Georgia Isn't in Economical Trouble

Last week Governor Brian Kemp (R), signed into law the heartbeat law. Banning an abortion if a heartbeat is detected. Now I am not one to talk about politics on a platform like this. Even though I do have strong opinions on abortion, I wont be talking about the morality of it, rather the possible outcomes it could have on the state, economically.

It is no secret that Hollywood is left-leaning, compared to Georgia, which is a red state. So throughout the weeks I've heard many leftist politicians and celebrities exclaiming and asking for many studios that shoot content in Georgia to re-locate to another state, in an act of protest. And many of those studios have publicly stated that if the heartbeat law were to be passed, they might make a move and leave Georgia (Hollywood Reporter). Including Disney, Netflix, WarnerMedia, NBCUniversal, CBS, AMC, Sony and more.

Now, I personally think that only a few studios might relocate, if that. It would be big financial risk to permanently move. The threats were probably made to make it seem that their views align with the majority of America. But if they did decide to leave, it could be devastating to Georgia's economy. Georgia is a tourist state, attracting many because of it's filming dominance. And without the giant studios that shoot there, Georgia could be in trouble.

But let me explain why Disney and Netflix and other studios won't leave. Where would they go? California? New York? Well probably not, considering how expensive land is. And out of the 10 states with the lowest value per acre, 8 of them are red states. And out of the 10 most expensive states, 8 of them are blue states. The other two are flip states. So possibly depending on the year and election, they could all be blue.

The reason why this matters is because many republican lawmakers and politicians have been "energized" the movements made by Alabama and Georgia. So we could see many red states make the flip and ban abortion. And I don't think that many of those studios are that grounded in morals to the point that they would make the decision to purposely put themselves in a bad financial position based on values.

Thank you for taking the time to read this! Again this is one man's opinion. I would love to hear what you think! Leave a comment and share. It would be much appreciated!
